Breckenridge may offer world-class slopes, sun and summit views but it also specializes in world-class cuisine. Settled into a historic house in located just a few blocks off Main Street, the Hearthstone Restaurant offers an elegant atmosphere, mountain views and elevated American cuisine.
Featuring naturally raised beef and game, sustainably caught seafood, and local, in-season produce, chef Michael Halpin’s menu mimics the natural and simplistic ways of Colorado. Repeatedly voted the Best Restaurant in Breckenridge by Summit Daily News, the Hearthstone overlooks the ski slopes and Ten Mile Range, complementing the cozy and elegant atmosphere of Colorado hospitality. Originally the Kaiser family home from the late 1800s to the early 1900’s, the Hearthstone has called the historic Victorian building home since 1989.
Start your evening off with the pork belly steamed buns or pan-seared sea scallops – both recommended by locals and visitors alike. The pan-seared Alaskan halibut with fava bean coulis is the entree of choice, served with chick pea, asparagus and yukon gold potato hash. Other highly-rated entrees include the Berkshire pork osso bucco (tenderbelly pork osso bucco served in an apple cider and brandy reduction) and the blackberry elk (locally sourced elk with garlic granola crust and marion blackberry demi-glace.) End the evening with a nightcap-esque dessert from their ‘dessertini’ menu (including an Espressotini of absolut vanilla vodka, freshly brewed espresso and coffee liqueur) or Cake & Shake, a slice of our layer carrot cake and Breckenridge Distillery bourbon-vanilla milkshake.) The Hearthstone also offers an extensive gluten-free menu for guests, an excellent happy hour, and one of the most notable wine lists in Summit County.
Visitors to Breckenridge would be sore to miss out on this mountain town gem, a favorite to locals and out-of-towners a like. Reservations are recommended for this taste of Colorado.
