High altitude and hunger do not go together. Thankfully, Summit County is full of the best little brunch spots, popular places for a liquid lunch, and delicious dinner menus to keep the hunger at bay.
Start off at Butterhorn Bakery and Cafe, a local favorite for their bloody mary’s, mimosas, and the top item on the menu: Eggs Butterhorn. Two poached eggs on a freshly baked croissant with Canadian bacon and fresh avocado. Topped with their unique roasted red pepper sauce and served with home fries, you won’t leave hungry. Bagel and Lox, the Frisco Skillet, and Eggy Bread (four thick slices of homemade cinnamon fruit bread dipped in egg batter and grilled to delicious perfection) are also top of the menu. The Butterhorn Bakery also serves lunch as well as specializing in cakes and baked goods. Be sure to get their early - they don’t take reservations and it fills up quickly!
If you’re still hungry – or maybe just looking for a way to cap off breakfast – take a trip to Germany! Without leaving Frisco, of course. Prosit Brewing offers the best selection of German beers this side of the Continental Divide. A fun little beer hall in the heart of Frisco, Prost is the perfect spot for some apre ski, midday beers and brats, or live entertainment. Enjoy a variety of traditional German beers and an amazing selection of sausages made from boar, elk and bison. Be sure to grab a pretzel, too!
If you believe dinner should be more than just a meal, then a Two Below Dinner Sleigh Ride is the ultimate dining experience. The night starts off with a sleigh ride through the Frisco hills, followed by dinner and a show featuring live musical entertainment. Warm up with a southwestern soup, top choice cut of sirloin and grilled chicken breast, and baked potato and veggies. Finish off the evening with warm apple pie and hot cocoa (with a complimentary shot of Peppermint Schnapps!) Great for those looking for family fun as well as a romantic getaway.
Come to Summit County hungry – you won’t be disappointed!
