Summit County is often called ‘Colorado’s Playground,’ and that doesn’t just mean fun for adults. There is plenty to do and explore in Summit County for kids of all ages!
Spend a morning at the Mountain Top Children’s Museum in Breckenridge, where hands-on exhibits help promote learning, imaginative play, and engagement in active experiences through art and science. Mountain Top Children’s Museum features exhibits like the Rocky Mountain Wildlife, Creation Station, and Tot Spot – geared for ages 2 and under, featuring interactive activities to keep little hands busy and brains growing.
Splash the day away at the Breckenridge Recreation Center with plenty of toddler-friendly activities including a shallow splash area and child-focused classes. A toddler-sized slide, as well as one for adults, is sure to get giggles and the lazy river swim stream may be just what you and your little one need to relax.
The Keystone Adventure Center offers fun for the whole family but it may be hard to pull your toddler away from feeding the fish! Take a cruise on a paddleboat or spend the day on the beach splashing in Keystone Lake. Be sure to visit Keystone’s Kidtopia where your toddler can meet the avalanche rescue dogs, have their face painted and enjoy their first s’more by the campfire.
When looking for a quieter afternoon, the Summit County Library in Breckenridge has just what you need. With a tot-sized indoor playground, plenty of toys and games and of course, all of the books you can imagine, the Summit County Library is a great way to spend a little time with your little one. Storytime is offered weekly both at the library and at The Red Buffalo Cafe (located in Silverthorne).
